MN: Temptation ‘very great’ for Pioli to field Kessie as the playmaker against Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

Franck Kessie will make his return to the starting line-up against Inter on Saturday night, with the only doubt being regarding the position he will occupy.

According to MilanNews, Kessie will return to Italy today after undergoing a scan on the injury he picked up in the Ivory Coast’s penalty shootout defeat against Egypt in the African Cup of Nations last 16, and there is no apprehension about his condition.

Tomorrow he will return to training at Milanello and will immediately be available Stefano Pioli, who has an eye on the derby next weekend given that it is huge in the fight for the Scudetto. The only certainty is that Kessie will start, but what must be determined is whether he starts alongside Sandro Tonali in the double pivot or further up the field.

Brahim Diaz is certainly not going through a good period of form despite the assurances from both the Spaniard and Pioli about his improved physical condition, so the temptation of using Kessie as the attacking midfielder is ‘very great’.

The Ivorian has shown that he is suited to play in that role, so much so that in the match against Empoli to close 2021 he gave his side a presence in the opposing third and some more steel to the high press, scoring twice too. The temptation is there, and Pioli will decide in the coming days.

  1. Nononooo
Bech him for 6 months.. when milan had the offer to sell him this winter, he refused… So why should we spot him the amc role?

  2. Rebic would be the best choice as an AM. Let Kessie play in the midfield where he belongs. And get rid of crappy Diaz, he should play futsal with his featherweight.

      1. 100% correct, whether Ibra or Giroud at the 9 but Rebic at the 10 ,good with both feet, strong,,quick on the turn, especially with back to goal, I like Diaz, unfortunately he is pushed off the ball too easily, not so with Rebic.

  3. He doesn’t deserve to play anymore, he is selfish. Want to leave for free and broke Milan agreement with Tottenham. He want to advertise himself for Barcelona,Juve and inter.

Let’s get some players on loan and Van de Beek just joined Everton by 500K loan let’s get some La Celso,Rique Puig,Dalle Alli and Langard. They are all available on loan and even Ndombele who is very good just played in a wrong formation at Spurs and he can shine under Poili 4:2:3:1/4:2:1:3.

So wish you can replace Kessie now with Renato ,

One day left hopefully Milan can do some business.
