MN: Milan looking for Kessie’s replacement and could exploit preferential lane with Bordeaux

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to sign two players before the transfer window closes in just over a fortnight, but at the moment neither are imminent.

According to a report from MilanNews, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to sign a central defender as well as a midfielder, because the absence of Franck Kessie was ‘noticed in the defensive transitions’.

With Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer offering guarantees, a signing will be necessary to fill that gap that Pioli has clearly indicated as one that has to be closed, together with a centre-back like Abdou Diallo.

The idea is to sign a physically strong midfielder who is able to integrate quickly into Milan’s system. Raphael Onyedika of Midtjylland is one of the profiles circled in red by Maldini and Massara, but the directors also have a preferential channel with Bordeaux so Jean Onana could be a target despite things seemingly going cold on that front.
