Journalist claims Milan made late attempt to hijack Juventus-Motta deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan tried right until the end to convince Thiago Motta to join them instead of Juventus but they were ultimately unsuccessful, a journalist has claimed.

Milan announced this morning that Stefano Pioli will leave the club at the end of the current season, following a tenure of nearly five years. Tomorrow’s game against Salernitana, therefore, will be his last with the club.

There seems to be a bit of uncertainty regarding who will come in to replace him but it looks like Paulo Fonseca of Lille is the favourite at the moment, something which has draw a mixed reaction from the fanbase.

According to Juventus journalist Romeo Agresti of Goal.com, Milan tried until the final moments to overcome the Bianconeri and find an agreement with Motta over becoming their next head coach.

They were in contact with him until few weeks ago but by that point the former midfielder had given his word to Juventus and wanted to respect it, meaning that he will join them ahead of next season.

We reported earlier this month that talks had been resumed between Milan and Motta’s entourage as they wished to probe his availability, with the potential signing of Joshua Zirkzee also connected.

Juve was in contact with Motta for months. Milan won’t get him, obviously..

Our guys are so fûcking passive, honestly most of the time it looks like they aren’t doing anything at all.. like right now, we’d need to have 3/4 of our targets locked. Transfer window starts they’re oura. And we haven’t even decided, supposedly, on a coach.. jesus

    1. 🙌🏼

Also wont be surprised if a major sale happens after preseason with no replacement deals lined up. Deadline day we will prob have Musah’s cousin.

At least Zlatan’s next book will be rather interesting for Milanisti

  2. Yes and now Motta is gonna bring Calafiori and Zirkze with him. And you will see the real ambition of the club finally surface 😉

    1. Sack Moncada and the rest of them because of short falls of 19 point deficit to Inter and disgraceful recruitment strategies
Next season will be a disaster with Fonseca at the helm ask the players and fans 💩

  3. We’re already losing to Inter and Juve and the f’ng mercato hasn’t even started yet! Inter has two new players, Juve a new coach. And Milan? Losing their number one striker and the most reliable CB. Looking good…

  4. Fabrizio Romano : juve offer 5m euro nett / season for motta and contract 3 years also promise to buy motta request. No chance for ACM unless want to offer 7-8m euro nett / season
