SM: The truth regarding rumours Milan could ‘swap’ centre-backs on free transfers

By Oliver Fisher -

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero launched the idea that Alessio Romagnoli would like to join Lazio in the summer with Francesco Acerbi going the other way. However, Milan seem to have other plans to replace the captain.

As we have learned from our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Romagnoli will leave Milan at the end of the season and the €5.5m net per year (€11m gross) he receives will be reinvested by the management on a young and prospective profile that perfectly aligns with the prototype of investments made by Elliott during recent years.

Not a worthy profile

The idea of Romagnoli going to Lazio and Acerbi joining Milan seems unlikely to date because the latter is 34 years old and – although not yet totally out of Sarri’s plans – he is experiencing a waning phase of his career that will probably lead to him joining a club with lesser ambitions.

On the other hand, Romagnoli is a boyhood Biancocielesti supporter but for Lazio chiefs Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare the major obstacle regarding the player’s salary remains to be overcome.

One name above all

Milan seem to be oriented towards other profiles and the first name on the wish list remains that of Sven Botman. There are other defenders followed by Rossoneri scouts like Bruno Agustin Amione (born in 2002), owned by Hellas Verona but on loan to Reggina in Serie B.

  1. Go get Lovato for super cheap. Barely playing so price will be even lower, and he’s still promising and young
