Transfermarkt: Top five in the world – Milan lead Italy again for attendance numbers

It is clear that the attendances at San Siro have risen again, and AC Milan are giving a reason for them to, after a poor year.

Last season, there were several criticisms about the San Siro attendances. Whilst they remained high in numbers, there were often frustrations about prices, or even about the performances. So, tickets were not selling as well as they had previously.

This has changed this season, though. Around the club, the feeling of toxicity has gone, and there is a lot of positives to going to games once again.

Milan’s substantial attendance

This weekend’s derby was always, probably, going to be a sell-out. Yet, Milan had sold the stadium out three fixtures ago. Levels of support make the recent sway in supporter emotion more tangible than it had perhaps been before.

As Transfermarkt reports, via MilanNews, the Rossoneri sit fifth in attendance levels across the world, falling only behind Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, the gap to 2nd is only around 1,800 spectators per game.

Inter follow behind, with around 71,750 attendees per game – more than a 1,000 supporter difference – whilst Roma sit in ninth. Indeed, this means that when it comes to attendances, the Rossoneri rule in Italy.
