AC Milan have once again been linked with a move for Nicolo Zaniolo as they will have to invest in a forward should Rafael Leao leave the club.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) have a section titled ‘The Plan B of the big clubs’ referring to what will happen if Milan were to lose Rafael Leao, Inter were to be forced into selling Milan Skriniar, Napoli sold Victor Osimhen and Juventus lost Adrien Rabiot.
The paper claims that there is still a stalemate between the Milan management and the entourage of Leao over extending his contract beyond June 2024, and Zaniolo has ‘appeared’ as an option.
Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea remains on the list of targets but is 30 years of age, Marco Asensio is a player that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara admire but he wants €7m net per season, while Noah Okafor of RB Salzburg will fetch a big transfer fee.
As a result, the name of Zaniolo could come back into fashion, who has a contract with Roma until 2024 and would cost about €40m with a current salary of €2.8m net per season.
