Paolo Maldini is believed to only want two positions in football. One would be with AC Milan and the other, helping the national team. It may now be possible.

In the next few months, probably longer, we are likely to see Italian football get an overdue reform. Indeed, the most recent World Cup qualification failure has shown that there are issues from top to bottom and so changes are needed.

Gennaro Gattuso stepped down quickly after, but he was not alone with Gabriele Gravina, the head of the FIGC, also leaving his post. So, it is expected that big changes will be made.

Braida recommends Maldini

Milan will have an interest in the future for at least one reason, Massimiliano Allegri has been regularly linked with taking the vacant head coach role and he may not be the only Milanese representation in the rebuild.

Maldini has been linked with a role of some capacity and he has been recommended for the role by Ariedo Braida. Speaking to Il Messaggero Veneto, via MilanNews, the former Rossoneri coach stated why it would be a good move.

“No one has a magic wand, the problem with our championship is not the foreigners but the few Italians who play. I would propose a school for permanent football instructors, preparing teachers to instruct students.

“An indispensable base, then building academies and training centers as proposed by the late President Tavecchio. We need ideas and strong men, as did the FIFA that acquired Arsene Wenger. Former high-level players like Paolo Maldini or Alessandro Del Piero would be very competent.”
