CM: Milan must solve ‘puzzle’ of Liberali’s future – contract situation attracts two clubs

Mattia Liberali disappeared from the first-team radar after his debut in December, and the club are hoping to resolve his long-term future.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Liberali took the biggest step forward in his young career by making his Serie A debut at just 17 years, eight months and nine days, during Milan-Genoa on 15 December 2024. He later described it as ‘beautiful’, speaking of his attachment to the club.

From that moment on, the talent has disappeared without a trace, as if the spotlight had gradually faded. He made a few appearances in Milan Futuro but was then sent down to the Primavera, given Daniele Bonera barely started him.

There are two keys to Liberali’s season: on the one hand, his management has not been impeccable, while on the other the teenage has also not shown that he is ready – physically and mentally – to be thrown into senior football.

Liberali knows he has to improve on many aspects and he intends to. Milan must clarify to his agents what their plan for him is though, given that his contract runs out in 2026, with Fiorentina and Atalanta lurking.

Jovan Kirovski took charge of the Futuro project this season but has not yet started a concrete negotiation for a renewal. We are still in the initial discussions phase and the feeling is that we are ‘facing a first crossroads in Liberali’s very young career’.

Will he raise his level to earn a place in the Milan of the future, or become great elsewhere? This is the ‘puzzle to be solved’, starting with what the Rossoneri intend to do.

  1. We must retain him, surely his contract demands arent outrageous. Homegrown talent and potential to be a future full international.

  2. Play the boy and he probably will improve. For his age he done well.
Between now and the end of the season play these kids and get them prepared for next season. Start bringing in Italians. Especially those from the youth sector.
Clear out some of the foreign crap

    1. Yess bro. No more buy some Italian from nowhere like Ricci, chiesa bla bla bla with his price that made from media bluff. Milan have no money next season. Ricci I think will go to Inter with loan obligation. Our youth sector have something special bro. Just play them together. The talents already there.

Remember united class 92? The rest is history

  3. It’s hardly a puzzle. Anyone (but Milan probably) can see he’s a future baller… can’t wait to see him get sold to Fiorentina and then Juventus…

  4. Woww Atalanta is on the liberali spot. Watch out Milan. No more loan with obligation. If Atalanta enter the race, theres something special with this player. Remember CdK, retegui, lookman etc. Gasperini & d’amico have some sixth sense. Hahaha

  5. Milan are Masters of bad decisions, he should play regularly

    OR

He will move to Atalanta or Fiorentina and then to Inter or Juve few years later.

  6. Liberali showed in preseason that he has the mentality to be a good player. He should replace Chukwueze for the RW position. Liberali and Pulisic for RW next season should be good

  7. Lol I like how ppl are now saying if he wants a better career he should go to Atalanta rather than us. I said the same of Camarda and I got plastered on this site. Gald you guys are coming to y’all senses. Milan is not a place where youth develop into world class starters (or even great players for that matter).
