Longo: Milan looking to appoint new sporting director ‘shortly’ with ‘internal solution’ possible

News emerged earlier today about the likelihood of AC Milan parting with the Sporting Director Antonio D’Ottavio, and a replacement may arrive shortly.

The news about D’Ottavio’s exit is seemingly imminent, with multiple outlets confirming that the Director is set to leave the club, and the issues with Ibrahimovic are another reason being cited for his departure.

With this news, Daniele Longo also reports that a new director may be appointed shortly, and states in another tweet that Alberto Carraro and Dario Audasio are two candidates who are ‘strong’ with the club moving towards an ‘internal solution’.

Given the split between Milan and D’Ottavio coming as a result of disagreements, it is possible that Ibrahimovic would prefer to work with someone already at the club, given he knows their way of acting already, rather than taking a potential risk on someone new.

Carraro currently works as a ‘sports secretary’ with the Rossoneri and specialised in sports management in his master’s degree. Audasio’s path is also largely similar, despite taking a Sports law master’s degree, now he works as a ‘sports secretary’ as well, however, he has previously been a sporting director and has the qualification required, obtained by the FIGC in 2017.

  1. Did anyone know we actually HAD a Sporting Director???🤣🤣🤣 Holy Sh*t! This whole time?! What was he busy doing this whole time? Jack Sh*t?!

    Dear Lord…..

    1. Ha.
      That was my thoughts too.
What does the role even mean at Red Birds ACM?
Moncada and Ibrahimovic seem to be in charge of list management.
And it seems all are subservient to Ibra’s “I’m the boss!” statement.

    2. Clearly sidelined by Ibrahimovi, Furlani and Moncada. AFAIC, a Sporting Director is THE person in charge ultimately which players come in or go out, who is renewed, etc. The fact that we never hear his name probably has to do with the fact that he has been sidelined by Cardinale in favor of “special advisor” Ibrahimovic, “head scout” Moncada and whatever Furlani’s title is. 2017! This guy dates from the Li era. I’m shocked Cardinale didn’t straight up fire him when he took over.

    3. Bro this news took me out too. I’m like the entire time we’re screaming for a SD..and we had one. A non existent one but one nonetheless. This is so embarrassing

    1. No true sporting director would come in and work for this management.
Your role is not clear and curtailed by a head scout and whatever the hell Ibrahimovic role is.

  2. He is absolutely right, Madrid has more trophies, makes more money, and honestly the best Stadium in the World, that is why it is paramount for Milan to build and have it’s own stadium without Inter, and have other attached buildings and ecosystem that serves the club, we are too big to be sharing space with anyone, just go around Europe, virtually every serious club has its own personal stadium….if we can do dat within the next five years, we could be able to increase our prestige, financial gain and exposure…..

    1. Since gerdinale is busy with other business in the US he hand over the responsibility to ibrahimovic now we have two bosses ibrahimovic Mr childish is running our beloved club

  3. We are a dumpster fire….what a mess

This is what happens when you get a bunch of ppl with no experience to run your football club

Well done Gerry – wonderful insight – total surprise definitely didn’t see this coming 🤡🤣
