Santiago Gimenez has certainly shown signs that he can lead AC Milan forward in years to come, however, he has also shown that he is not completely ready just yet.
In the first few games after joining the club, Gimenez seemed to possess a sense of inevitability, and a fantastic opening spell saw him lead the team when everyone else seemingly couldn’t. Contributions in the Coppa Italia, Champions League and Serie A made his price tag and arrival seem like a solution, but this has faded a little.
It is not a case of Gimenez now being a ‘bad’ player, far from that, but perhaps, there needs to be an alternative ready during expected patches of bad form. This argument is also strengthened by the fact that all three of Milan’s alternative options probably will leave the club in the summer.
As Tuttosport (via Milan News) reports, Tammy Abraham probably will not stay at the club if Roma ask for more than €20 million, Luka Jovic will not be renewed again in the summer, and Francesco Camarda seems likely to head away on loan.
So, an alternative is needed to Gimenez and the report suggests that there are two formidable ideas – Lorenzo Lucca and Nikola Krstovic.
Both were sought in January, according to reports, but a move never occurred, perhaps in the summer, with a new head coach, they will find their moment.

We need continuity. Having a new striker that will take time to settle in is not the ideal situation right now. Why not continue with Tammy who is a more than capable substitute. Do we really believe Krstrovic or Lucca would want to play 2nd fiddle to Gimenez when they are 1st choice players. In no time we will have an unsettled lockeroom with inflated egos that disrupt the momentum for another stop and reset again. At what point are we gonna stop building and start settling in.
“Having a new striker that will take time to settle in is not the ideal situation right now.”
What’s not ideal is to splash 30 millions on a striker who comes in the middle of the shi**y season from a different league with different culture and language and expect him to save us from this mess. That’s what we have now with Gimenez.
We needed that player 2 summers ago to adapt with Giroud as first striker and tiring from his age, as well as playing too much. It would have been the ideal scenario to assure continuity.
I agree.
Gimenez is more than capable, but needs time to develop an understanding with his mates and decent service from midfield. I also wouldn’t mind seeing us change to a 2-striker system of some sort.
Yes, for now, I agreed that Abraham is better than Gimenez.
Gimenez is quite slow, so better if he always stand in the penalty area, waiting crossing or passing comes to him.
Abraham, more matched with counter attack style. He have speed, can open space, but the problem is his goal account. Maybe with more times given, he could be better as our goalscorer.
And I still hoping, our young talent Camarda can become our main striker in the future. Maybe our coach (now or next season), can give time minutes for Camarda.
Krstovic. He might become the 1st striker
Krstovic is cheaper than lucca. So management you know who you should choose.
So bad, if we can not give Camarda chances.
All of our youth strikers, are potential, but most of them can’t be our first team striker.
If we want to buy again, maybe we must buy strikers from premier league, who has speed when counter attack.
Gimenez is not counter attack style. He need good supplied to create a goal.
We need striker, like Sheva in the past, or like Isak for now, or Justin Kluivert who has speed, and also can open space for second line.
We are a joke 😭😭😭
Not a very funny one!
I’d argue that does guys would look at Gimenez and ask themselves why did want to play backup to a striker they know they are better than.
Busts….😭😭😭😭like. Gimenez
Abraham is the absolute best option. ALL strikers will struggle on this team. Our problem is not our strikers, it’s that our team plays nervous because they don’t trust the defense. Specifically, they don’t trust the CDM position. This is why things collapsed once Kessie left.
Get a world-class CDM or give 100% minutes to Bondo and build him up quickly. The entire team will turnaround if they trust the CDM to be a wall like Kessie was.
I think its better for us to sign Tammy. He may not be that lethal in goal scoring but he can open up spaces and can collaborate with his mates to attack d opponents
