However, the first blow has landed today, with the Rossoneri’s shortlist being officially taken down by one.
Italiano’s name was a bold addition to the shortlist, especially with him winning the Coppa Italia. Nevertheless, he rose to the favourite for the Diavolo, and there were to be talks after Igli Tare’s appointment, which should be announced today.
This will not be the case, though. As Daniele Longo reports on X that the Rossoblu are ‘one step away’ from a contract extension until 2027 with their coach, taking his yearly salary to €3.4 million. This is not new news, of course, after all talks took place last week.
However, there were hopes that the coach would stall for the Milan job and wait to hear from the club. Instead, he will continue to build in Bologna, and can you really blame him? After all, a lot will change at Milanello this summer.
So now, it is back to the drawing board.

Not getting why Milan would even consider the coach for a team who fumbled away a Top 4 finish, and ended up 9th in the table. This is not a big name.
No good coach and player in his right mind is going to work for the current management which is composed of incompetent buffoons. Until Red Bird sells the team we are doomed. We are going to get only players and coaches that nobody wants.
That’s another case, which impression does people (coaches) outside get of the current Milan/management, who dare want to take over this mess?
