Tuttosport: Milan have a low-cost centre-back in mind – Pioli has already spoken to him

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could turn to a low-cost option to strengthen their defence numerically and it might be that the return of Francesco Acerbi materialises, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) talks about how the Acerbi idea is not totally to be excluded because the Rossoneri have not yet closed the deal for Sven Botman as the negotiation has become complicated due to a possible auction unfolding.

Acerbi would arrive to replace Alessio Romagnoli who is expected to go the other way to Lazio, and the 34-year-old would add experience to a group already containing Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito would not oppose a sale so that they can cut his €800k net per year off the wage bill, especially given Acerbi’s no longer idyllic relations with the fans.

Pioli meanwhile has already met Acerbi in Forte dei Marmi while on holiday and on that occasion there was talk of the possibility of returning to Milan.

  1. Am tired of Milan speculation
Am tired of expecting without any positive news
    Am tired
Very tired of recycling news since 8 months ago

  2. I don’t take the rumour of some good players being linked to milan seriously anymore. Because at the end milan only signed low cost players.
Redbird is just puppet of elliot. Don’t expect any change in transfers policy

  3. So these writers have to find something to write everyday, whether true or false but they should keep this blog active.
No one really knows what’s happening
The first thing should be maldini extending then we can talk about other things

  4. Acmilan have lost the plot and this is against their policy of recruiting young

If they sign Lazio CB then it will be on Maldini’s watch

  5. I dont think paolo maldini will be that stupid signing this mediocre acerbi. Most likely maldini will go botman/bremer/arthur theatre for romagnoli replacement
