Despite only joining last summer, AC Milan are already set to lose money on Emerson Royal, showing a failure in the mercato.
There is something about Milan’s 2024/25 summer that still haunts everyone to this day. It was just very bad. From the players to timings, the Rossoneri failed to really improve the squad in the time allocated to do so, and spent poorly.

This carried through to the January mercato, where signings were questioned; both in terms of value and timings.
Emerson’s role
One of the weirder signings was Emerson, who joined after a few weeks of the Diavolo going back and forth over the idea of signing a full-back. Eventually, €15 million was spent on the defender, with him also receiving a €2.5m net salary.

Now, a year on, the club are set to record a loss on him, with a move to Flamengo looking increasingly likely after a bit of a hectic few days regarding his future.
Reports this morning state that he will leave for almost €10m, hence a €5m loss on the books, as Calciomercato.com verifies. However, this loss may actually help, as the club will now be able to spend more money elsewhere, with another midfielder, striker and right-back sought.

Top news. Not a loan to buy but permanent transfer.
The 15m was amortized for one year so not sure there will be a loss.
Amortization is the cost of the transfer spread out over the length of the contract. In this case we signed him for 15M and he signed a 5 year contract, so his value amortizes at 3M per year. So in this case we’ll be booking a 2M loss.
I was actually a 3 year contract with the option for a fourth. The 15 mil fee should be spread over 3 years so his contract would be 10 mil in the books after june 30th. Which means selling him for 10 mil should balance the books. I also assume thats why hes going for 10 mil.
No it was actually 4 years + 1 optional, so it will be a 1,25 mil capital loss
My bad. Either way, it’s transfer fee divided by contract length.
Great job rats Furlani and Moncada
The contract is only for 4 years that makes the year equall 3.75 m in that case u have to sell at least for 11.25 m. Selling for 10m is not making a big loss as u also make capital gain from others like hernandez and rinders with good amount.
Well he should just leave idc how much only care to just leave permanent
That shows how big of a failure this acquisition was from Moncada and Furlani. But that’s just one of many they made in last two seasons worth hundreds of millions. Incompetenti.
The loss happened the moment we signed him.
😂😂😂😂 great comment
Loss we not loss we win because he is trash
Getting rid of him makes this a win regardless
Black panther my a*s…. Ibra you owe the club some money….. Cocky press conferences have a price, either that or fire Furlani and Moncada since they have messed up 2 transfers in a row and we finished 8th. If I remember Maldini was fired because of CDK transfer which in hindsight again proved the incompetence from our current management. Yo Gerry almighty…. fire them all
It’s fairly minor loss, for a guy who was in poor form and then injured for half a season. Hope he lands somewhere and turns it around, always seems a hard worker just lacking awareness and I think he was very much scapegoated last season. Credit to him if he makes a move to be a starter and can pull it off.
Yeah he definitely was, he’s really bad on the ball but an average defender. Basically same output as Calabria which makes the transfer a failure nonetheless
Another Foolani decision 🙏🤣🤣
Moncada wanted him. Furlani has little to do with targets. He’s been at the club for a few years now and you still don’t understand his role?
The other loss will be covered by what was saved on his salary, no single loss for milan
