Tuttosport: Milan strongly want a new right winger but track leading to Man City star cools

Fans have been dreaming over the past few days that Riyad Mahrez could arrive from Manchester City to be the first statement signing of AC Milan’s new ownership.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) recently reported that the coup is possible because the Algerian has one year left on his contract with Man City and he earns just over €6m net per season, thus opening the door for negotiations even though it would be a ‘dream’ signing.

The same source (via MilanNews) now confirms that Milan who are still looking for a right winger ahead of next season who can come in and improve the quality of that flank given the struggles of Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias.

However, the paper adds that the Mahrez track has cooled down in the last few days, perhaps due to the difficulties that lay ahead in completing the operation from a cost point of view, and because he continues to start big games under Pep Guardiola.
