Milan mayor urges AC Milan and Inter to have patience over stadium as ‘we are close’

AC Milan and Inter have been trying to get their stadium project off the mark for a very long time but the politics in Italy have made things difficult. In spite of this, the Milan mayor continues to ask for patience.

The city council haven’t sanctioned Milan and Inter’s stadium project yet as there are still disagreements regarding what should happen with the Giuseppe Meazza. A question that will require a public debate, adding even more delays to the project.

Speaking to Adnkronos, as cited by MilanNews, Milan mayor Beppe Sala shared an update on the stadium issue. He urged the clubs to have some more patience as – in his words – they are close to a positive conclusion.

“I believe that we will authorize the new stadium within our time frame, which isn’t even decided by me. The public debate is foreseen by the law. Unfortunately, I don’t write the laws, I understand that we have to ask for the teams to be patient yet again but that’s the way it is. After this long process, we are close to the conclusion of everything, so I hope they have a little more patience,” he stated.

We have heard it many times before and it remains to be seen if Milan and Inter will move the project elsewhere. It’s something that could put great pressure on the city council and force them to accept the project.
