CM: Milan relying on the Mendes factor – talks on over Leao and Barcelona defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping to be able to count upon Jorge Mendes as an ally in negotiations over the extension of Rafael Leao’s contract, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that the discussion between Milan and Leao for the renewal of his contract – currently expiring in June 2024 – is more open than ever. As confirmed by the winger himself in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, there were ‘positive’ discussions with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara in the last few weeks.

Of course, more meetings will be needed to make significant progress and to define who has the true power of attorney, given the battle between agent Jorge Mendes and Leao’s family lawyer Ted Dimvula.

Milan are banking on Mendes being able to make the difference. They are in talks with him over Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde which is confirmation of the excellent relations and willingness to work together on the transfer market.

Maldini and Massara are convinced that the Portuguese ‘super agent’ can convince Leão to renew with the Rossoneri at certain prices, so for that reason optimism filters.
