A few days ago it seemed like AC Milan would be having quite a busy January with operations close to being completed, yet things remain in a state of flux.
Nonetheless, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning that the mercato is finally about to get going for the Rossoneri. Even after the Noah Okafor to RB Leipzig deal collapsed, important news should arrive on the Marcus Rashford front.
Okafor: Everything was ready for his move to Leipzig. The Swiss striker had even flown to Germany to undergo a medical, which ultimately ruined everything. The German club decided to cancel the deal after the results did not come out as expected, but economic-contractual reasons may be behind it.
Rashford: Milan are waiting for the Manchester United man, and hope for positive signals despite fierce competition. The Englishman is seen as a ‘tempting opportunity’ which becomes an even more urgent need given Christian Pulisic’s injury, which needs to be evaluated. He could be used as a winger or as a striker, which helps.
Walker: One Englishman excludes the other. If Rashford were to opt for other shores, Milan would turn to Kyle Walker, whose agents have already spoken with the Rossoneri management, presenting their client’s requests: €4m net per season plus bonuses.
Midfield: Warren Bondo of Monza and Habib Diarra of Strasbourg are the two profiles being followed. The former would cost around €10m, while the latter would be around double that as per the paper, with a Transfermarkt valuation of €20m.
The future: Geoffrey Moncada and his team have set their sights on Saba Goglichidze of Empoli and Jackson Tchatchoua of Hellas Verona. Both are in their early 20s and are seen as profiles to help build the rearguard in years to come, and Moncada met with their agents.
Sales: Okafor’s return does not mean he will definitely stay: the Swiss forward could still leave Milan if other clubs were to come in. The same goes for Samuel Chukwueze, who is waiting for a call from LaLiga or the Premier League. Luka Jovic and Fode Ballo-Touré are also preparing to leave Milan, with the former proposed to Monaco and the latter linked with Le Havre.
Origi tho, still chillin on the beach 😎
Not excited for Rashford or Walker but I am willing to give Rashford a chance.
Personally I would have like us to go for an Italian trio: Ricci, Berardi and Parisi this January.
Berardi and Parisi should both be cheap. all three Italians, Berardi is versatile, could cover for Puli, Morata/Abraham and even the AMC role. Theo desperately needs a capable backup
Berardi and Parisi reached their limit…
Gnoto, Kayode would be more exciting… you also have Frendrup/Casadei for now and Ricci is a more summer operation, like it or not Torino decide if he leaves and they want to keep him…
Nkunku is also an option for front-line, but owners have 0 ambition…
It might matter to the ownerships modus operandi but it really shouldn’t matter in our current situation as Berardi offers guarantees in g/a contribution. Who is more exciting as young players shouldn’t matter as we need someone we can rely on now and not in half a year or a year if we actually are serious about qualifying for cl next year. I would like us to add Frendrup or Ricci though.
Nkunku obviously isn’t an option as he would most likely cost 60-70 mil euros if not more and I can imagine he also has a huge salary and he is to my knowledge also having a good season with Chelsea so I can’t see much reason for them to sell as they are also playing for cl qualification for next year.
I agree, Berardi has always been a no brainier for me. 1 in 3 goals from the wing!!!!
Absolutely as he basically offers 20 g/a pr. season but I would actually both add him and loan Rashford considering that both Chukwueze and Okafor is both currently injured. Berardi can’t cost too much either.
Fair, Berardi and Rashford in 4-4-2 as strikers would give us the goals we desperately need
Berardi, Kayode, Frendrup, Rashford would give us the boost in every department that we desperately need
Those 4 players certainly would raise the level and give us some extra strings to play on.
i think Rashford could be a better deal, I’ll actually take Walker instead. RB is of a greater need at the moment. (even with Puli injured)
Buying a CB now would be insane. That’s the only position where we don’t NEED new players. Fine as we are.
First we need to understand what Sergio wants to play. Right now we see he’s trying 433 but he himself said it doesn’t give him enough width and last night after the game he said, there are many players who are not fit for his ideas and system but he’s working on it.
Fact is this team is poorly constructed, as we’ve been saying since the start of season 2023 and everythig screams for another overhaul in the summer.
How Moncada is still around after wasting 200 millions with nothing much to show is beyond me.
At current doesn’t look like Moncada’s contract will be picked up so at current you’re getting what you want. It also looks like Milan are looking seriously at Sartori which if they land would be a major coup and an upgrade over our last two sporting directors. Regardless it doesn’t seem ownership is completely satisfied and looking to make changes.
Perhaps we should be going for Vlahovic?
Though Juve unlikely to strengthen a rival but with Kalulu doing well for them, perhaps that gives us leverage
I’d still rather Osimhen or Sesko but Vlahovic is a proper bomber and the kind of forward we need
I don’t want walker or Rasher
I think Trincao would be useful cover for both left and right wings, especially if we can sell Chucky
Midfield we need someone, whether that is Ricci or someone else to fill the gap, maybe even a player on loan
RB is a bit of a sh1t show, though perhaps Jimenez can play more there
I can understand why Jimenez is preferred in attack given depth issues and his on ball ability basically he’s what we all want Chuck to be. Personally I think walker would be a good solution at RB. I think he’s an obvious upgrade even if he’s not tops anymore
100% Jimenez should play more there. That’s his position. He’s not playing there because of the current crisis we have on the wings, although Conceicao, like the two managers who have come before him, seems to have his preferred players regardless of form. See Tomori over Gabbia, for example.
No one even care to mention that lazy turd named Origi anymore, it’s really amazing…
Origi is on Milan’s pension program
He is training with the futuro just as ballo toure does.
We’re in the middle of January and still only “setting sights” while our midfield has no depth an is ran ragged?
