Today, L’Equipe’s headlines read ‘Where is Fofana?’, whilst questions were asked of ‘What happened to him?’ inside, as Milan Press relays. Whilst he has been at the forefront for Milan, his position with the National Team has fallen dramatically.
Once upon a time, he was a regular and had ‘carved out an important place’, but now he is consistently overlooked, with his last trip to Clairefontaine coming in the September-October internationals.
An exchange took place between Didier Deschamps and the midfielder, according to the report, in Autumn, where his role was discussed but there is no bad blood. Regardless of this, there are still no signs of a call-up anytime soon. So, Fofana must keep plugging away in attempt to reach the World Cup squad next summer.

When was Fofana EVER a regular for France NT ? Outside of few friendlies and few qualifiers here and there, he was barely ever a starter for France and was never picked for what Deschamps thought were going to be tough games.
Are you expecting him to start ahead of likes of Rabiot, Camavinga, Tchouaméni and Kanté ? Most of whom are way better than him defensively and none of whom attempt to shoot towards the crowd each time they’re within 30 meters of the opposition’s goal ? Even Guendouzi, Koné and Zaïre-Emery are tough competition.
He was always a second tier or third tier player for France, that’s all. There is no mystery whatsoever.

Also both Camavinga and Tchouameni are massively overrated. Literally Giuliano Giannichedda and Manuele Blasi.
