C&F: Milan will earn money if players are injured at Qatar World Cup – the details

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan will be eligible for compensation money if any of their players suffer serious injuries at the 2022 Qatar World Cup this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calcio e Finanza, there is a system in place called the Club Protection Programme for the tournament that gets underway on Sunday.

Clubs will receive compensation for each day that a player misses through injury upon return from the World Cup in Qatar.

The compensation runs to a maximum of €7.5 million per player per injury and the amount received will depend on the player’s salary, considering only the fixed amount of money paid in weekly or monthly instalments.

Considering that Milan have had a very tough time with injuries in the first part of the season, this is a measure that will be popular with the Rossoneri directors as well as many other clubs around the world as they try to work with an unprecedented winter World Cup.
