MN: Milan made more than one attempt to sign Benjamin Sesko – the background

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan tried to sign striker Benjamin Sesko and they might now regret having missed out on his, a report has revealed.

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri first attempted to land Sesko back when he was playing for Domzale in his native Slovenia back in 2019. A negotiation was started but ultimately Red Bull Salzburg came in with a €2.5m bid plus bonuses which made it impossible for Milan to continue the negotiations for the player.

Milan had been eyeing the 19-year-old for some time after that too, also having some meetings with his entourage in the summer window as the agent of the player – Elvis Basanovic – confirmed on July 2nd: “I talked to Paolo Maldini about many things. Obviously the name Benjamin Sesko also came out. In the next five-six years, Sesko will be one of the best strikers Europe.”

However, Sesko ended up moving to RB Leipzig (another Red Bull club) for €24m with the stipulation that he will remain on loan for a year with the Austrian club. He faced Milan in the first round of the Champions League group stages and will do so again at San Siro.

    1. Pioli, with all due respect to the guy, is BAAD at developing attackers. He is good with defenders tho. If Leao was under Spalletti or Gasperini, he would’ve been a 150 mil player by the time he turned 21 instead of 23.

    1. Roko, he is not Italian. But you are right, next striker that will be big and he is a big Milan fan. Like his favorite club is Milan, not Dinamo…

  1. Don’t mean to be rude but who cares. We didn’t sign him. Plain and simple. Happens all the time. We would have never known how he would have turned out. Probably in Primavera anyways or loaned back out. Can’t linger on what ifs like past exes

  2. I think Lazetic will not let us down… he sure has the talent to be the best, he needs to work hard and have a mind set of never being satisfied on any result ,no matter how good it is..

  3. “A negotiation was started but ultimately Red Bull Salzburg came in with a €2.5m bid plus bonuses which made it impossible for Milan to continue the negotiations for the player.” LOL. 2.5M made it “impossible”??? Geez….

    1. Elliot still in charge at that time. You know elliot aim for as many capital gain , probably elliot want to sign sesko 1m euro or maybe 500k euro like kalulu so after salzburg offer 2,5m euro that make elliot withdraw
