AC Milan have been tracking Patrick Dorgu for some time, however, it seems they may miss out on the player due to his price, a report has claimed.
Buying players is always a risk, as the time has to be right for all parties. For example, Charles De Ketelaere had bags of potential, but maybe needed more time before moving to a club like Milan. So for this reason, clubs have to ensure that a player is ready to make the jump, as to not waste money.
This does not come without downsides, though. Waiting too long risks the player’s value rising sharply, and a player that isn’t quite ready can quickly become unattainable if the risk isn’t taken, and it seems the Rossoneri are experiencing that now.
Dorgu is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time, and the club have tracked him heavily in the past 12 months, but they have never succesfully acted on their interest, and it seems this will now cost them.
As Calciomercato.com reports, Lecce are now asking for at least €40 million for the wing-back and this is discouraging the interested Serie A clubs, with the report saying that ‘even Milan are discouraged’ depsite their long term interest.
The price, however, will not be off-putting for Premier League clubs, and Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Crystal Palace are watching the situation intently.
