CorSport: Milan still following striker that sporting director told them to sign for €27m

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Lille star Jonathan David before and it seems their interest has not gone away, a report claims.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Luis Campos advised Gordon Singer some time ago to spend the €27m needed to sign Jonathan David, back when he was the sporting director of Lille and there was a link of sorts between the clubs.

The 22-year-old is a centre-forward for the future with his power and speed, as seen through the fact he scored 13 league goals in 37 appearances in his first season for Les Dogues (2020-21), 15 in 38 last season and has 9 in 15 this season.

He is managed by AFA Sports Management and has a contract until 2025, with the paper reporting how Milan, Napoli and Roma are all collecting reports on the attacker while he continues to impress at Lille ahead of a potential future move.

    1. I agree that Milan should stay away from Jonathan David.
But Piatek was absolutely not a bust for Milan.
He was at Milan for only 12 months. From January to December 2019.
In his 1st 6 months he scored 9 goals in 18 games and along with Paqueta and Bakayoko was the main reason why that team finished 5th , 1 point of UCL spot after a bad start under Gattuso.
In his 2nd 6 months ( or to be exact 4, from September to December) he scored 4 goals for a team that was a shit show under Giampaolo. The whole team was trash but everyone still blaming just Piatek and Paqueta .
So he scored 13 goals in a calendar year under 2 different coaches in a club that was a mess caused by a bad coaching hire.
For comparison last year highest scorers for Milan were Giroud and Leao with 11

    2. Piatek flop? How? He did what he was bought in to do in the first season. The second season wasn’t as good thanks to the pathetic midfield.
