GdS: Milan badly need a midfielder – French talent evaluated along with ‘usual suspects’

AC Milan want to recruit a new central midfielder in the January transfer window, and a new name has reportedly emerged as a target.

Last night Youssouf Fofana was not at his best as he gave away the ball for Cagliari’s equaliser, failing to stop the counter by letting his man go past. It was not his tidiest display but it is almost understandable, given how many minutes he has been asked to play.

While Yunus Musah could be an interesting alternative to work on, and with Ismael Bennacer needing some time to get close to 100% after a long time out, Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders are being ‘perpetually forced to do overtime’.

In terms of targets, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that there is a name which had remained under the radar but now is the subject of more intense contacts: Lucas Gourna-Douath, of Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.

He is one of the profiles being monitored on the list, as a natural defensive midfielder who excels with his physicality and athleticism shielding the back four. The 21-year-old could therefore be the ideal deputy to Fofana.

The rest of the shopping list features the ‘usual suspects’: Reda Belahyane (Verona), Warren Bondo (Monza) and the more expensive Morten Frendrup (Genoa), an ‘obsession’ of the Rossoneri management.

  1. not moncada and his “ideas” honestly i havent watched the french dude so i dont know if he is any good but i think it wont be a good signing espically if moncada has something to do

  2. Friendly reminder that the last player we got from the Austrian bundesliga and specifically from RB Salzburg was Strahinja Pavlović.

      1. Reijnders, Puli and Fofana yes. But these are 3 players out of 15 Moncada signed and spent 200 millions on. It’s a statistical probability anyone of us from this blog would achieve in his position.

  3. Milan is in a mess with Moncada and Zlatan. Which idea is for someone to look for something that the ones you have is better than? I have said this thing times without number that Zlatan and Moncada are the problem we have. Example. You need a replacement for Calabria then you went for Emerson Royal, Is Emerson a match for Calabria?
You let go of Giroud then you sign Morata, so from what we have seen so far is Morata a good replacement for Giroud?
You went for Abraham as deputy for Morata, tell me how Abraham is better than Jovic. Even Jovic that you could have let go, you guys renew his contract then it’s now a problem to Milan. Tell me how Zlatan and Moncada are helping Milan.
You need a midfielder when you already have players like Musah and Bennacer, so why don’t you look for someone better? You have been vying for Ricci, why don’t you just sign him to fix the midfield problem. You want to go for another waste then later you will still look for that midfielder again. How long have we been having this midfield problem?

  4. 200 Millions spent, a whole team and a half bought….and still need an attacking midfielder, a defensively midfielder, A top notch striker…. Furlani and Moncada chose to send away Adli but kept Musah… Chose to sell kalulu n bench Calabria for Egberson., we had Jovic as backup ST but still went ahead to get Tammy nonsense…

Simply Put, d problem is not actually d players but d management

    1. It is the players – half of them are crap.

Moncada needs to go. His obsession with black French players is embarassing.

      1. We all knew you were trailer park TRASH – but RACIST trailer park TRASH – that is another level kid

        What an embarrassment you are.

    2. 💯💯💯 management is TRASH and the person that decided to hire that management (Redbird – Cardinale) is also TRASH

Success starts at the very TOP…..all should be held accountable
