Joao Felix started life at AC Milan with a bang but since then has gone quiet, and at present the chances of him remaining beyond May are slim.
As Calciomercato.com report, in his 68 minutes in Bologna, Felix made just eight passes, without a single shot on goal. The Portuguese is not lighting up with creativity in the way that Milan hoped when they signed him from Chelsea, with not a single goal contribution in four league starts.
The lack of consistency is clear to see, even if Sergio Conceicao has tried to shield him, stating: “He is very good between the lines, in my opinion sometimes with the desire to touch the ball many times he moves to areas where it is not needed: we need a second striker.
“He accepts that he has to improve something every day, he has to be more decisive: he must not find himself far from the goal as happens now. He has to make the difference in the last thirty meters, we are working on this with him as well as with other players.”
Milan not only ‘cannot ignore the signs’ regarding his performances but also there is an economic aspect that means permanence is unlikely. Joao Felix was bought by Chelsea in the summer of 2024 for €52m, signing a six-year deal worth €€8.14m net per year.
Milan paid €5m, including bonuses, for the loan and are contributing to the payment of his salary, albeit with a portion covered by the London club. To transform the dry loan into a permanent transfer the costs must be reduced, with the break-even number in June 2025 set at €41.6m for Chelsea.
So, either Milan must include a counterpart to reduce the financial outlay or they must try and get the Blues to say yes to another loan, this time with an obligation to buy of at least €31.2m. The situation has become a headache, but there is still time for the 25-year-old to show his worth.
What exactly time?
This tea flopped, and Joao came in as a master flop. In his 5 or 6 games he should already had 6 contributions but he managed to score only in Coppa Italia. Just like Chukwueze. They both needs to leave in the summer.
I would be fine having him on loan for next season. Felix has abilities that no other player in Serie A possess, and I think he is at least a great supersub for us right now.
But he needs better output before this can happen…
Send this sloppy ass player along with RLC back to Chelsea. He doesn’t deserve to wear Milan shirt.
Felix has a knack for getting the ball when he’s not ready for it…
João is useless in the team and other needs are of much higher demand. We need a top flight DM and two fullbacks if the Theo rumors are true.
The positive is that his market value is decreasing by the day 😂 He has no place with Chelsea (Maresca made that brutally clear), so they will have to try to loan him again or sell him. And with his current performance, there’s no fantasy where anyone pays €40m+ for him, and Chelsea would be aware of that.
Can’t believe Juve and Milan management. You need to show some restraints if you want to buy these loaned players with no option to buy, so that you don’t pay more. But no, these players played initial few matches well and then they started talking about we will make permanent blah blah. Muani was lucky in his few first matches but Felix is way worse. IF he played at street football, he is good, some trickery etc. But he has been useless in any clubs he has played since his big move to Atletico, under many different coaches. Talk about move are too early when he scored the goal, which is the only one so far
Why would anyone in their right mind attempt to sign this player?? The idea is to offload lazy players that contribute zero, not add more.
But then again, the minds at Milan haven’t been right for quite some time now.
