AC Milan could yet choose to build their own stadium without their city rivals Inter due to the differing financial situations of the two clubs, a report claims.
Pietro Mazzara’s editorial for MilanNews talks about how Investcorp would be getting ‘the keys to a Lamborghini’ by buying Milan because of how Elliott Management have improved the club’s accounts and have thus provided the perfect launching pad for more ambitious owners.
Mazzara adds that another Arab fund also approached Inter’s owners Suning but would not pay their €1bn demands because they are burdened by big debts, bonds to be repaid and must sell €100m worth of players this summer.
He then talks about the stadium issue, and emphasises that Milan are pushing harder than Inter to build a new home because Elliott or Investcorp have the money to back the project while the Nerazzurri falter. It cannot be ruled out thereofre that Investcorp decide to build the stadium on their own, also given the length of the public debate on the new San Siro which will close in October.
