Reports: Milan not expecting contact from Newcastle over Tonali despite lawsuit rumours

AC Milan are not expecting any contract from Newcastle United over the Sandro Tonali betting saga, according to a report.

Corriere dello Sport reported earlier today that Newcastle threatened Milan with a multimillion-euro lawsuit over the Tonali case on Tuesday, clearly believing that they knew something about it.

Tonali is expected to be given a 10-month suspension for having broken regulations regarding betting on Milan games as a player, while the paper also added that Newcastle will stop paying his €8m-a-year salary.

According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.it, however, Milan have made it known that they have not had any contact with the English club nor do they expect to have any over Tonali.

The club, as already written in recent days by various sources, were not aware of what emerged from the ongoing investigation – i.e. they did not know Tonali was betting on Milan games prior to his sale.

Update: This story has also been confirmed by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Alessandro Jacobone and others.
