CorSera: Milan ‘will not oppose’ an offer surpassing €50m for Leao this summer

In recent years, Rafael Leao has been almost untouchable. Now, it seems that AC Milan will consider offers three times less than his release clause.

Over the past few seasons, there have been several rumours about Leao’s future. Each time, though, they have been met with the same point to his release clause. Milan have referred to that nine figure clause several times, and that was normally enough.

In the first half of this season, it probably would have been enough again. He was on fire as a striker. Now, though, with his physical issues and the goalscoring droughts he has suffered, things have changed.

From €175m to €50m

According to Corriere della Sera, the Portuguese could have a busy few months. He will finish the season with the Rossoneri and then head to the World Cup in North America. In the background, as MilanNews relays, his future will be discussed.

The report suggests that the Diavolo will consider offers around the €50 million mark, a substantial drop from the €175m clause inserted into his renewal.

Whether deals will be accepted is something else. After all, there is a significant difference between not opposing and accepting, then there is also the will of the forward to consider.

  1. Who will offer over 50 millions for this lazy inconsistent player ? Big clubs with this kind of money wants players ambitious and consistent providers, not lazy primadonas…

  2. Then he is up for sale. Then the project is going to be built around him. Then he is too important to the project. Then an enticing offer would be a dealmaker…the only good that came out of this season is that Milan started functioning without Leao which is good for team cohesion and stopping this overreliance on any one player. Love him hate him…he does make a difference but i won’t be over concerned if he is moved along.

  3. The football espana has reported that barca willing to pay maximum 50m than to pay 30m for rashford. Rashford salary was higher than leao. I think its possible. Milan might get extra money to recharge for their strikers…

  4. I’m not happy with Leao but we should sell nkunku and the Mexican and let fulkrug go as well. Then get someone else in instead, for those three.
And one other thing – maybe he was worth 150mil but all hell would have broken loose for letting him go back then.
