The AC Milan management and ownership continue to send a message to players who demand too much to remain at the club, and the strategy seems to be working so far.
MilanNews takes a look at the situation involving Gianluigi Donnarumma over the summer and his eventual move to PSG. Of course his error in their Champions League exit to Real Madrid does not change the fact that he is among the strongest goalkeepers in the world, but Milan have proven they can cope even without an elite-level player in their ranks.
Donnarumma did not want to renew his contract with the Rossoneri and instead chose the astronomical figures and the ambitions of PSG, snubbing the offer of Maldini and Massara that they believed to be fair.
The directors chose to seal a deal for Mike Maignan with Lille, and he arrived in what you could consider to be a low-cost operation considering he had the most clean sheets in Europe’s top five leagues last season, asking for a far lower salary than Donnarumma too.The pitch speaks too, as the transition from the Italian to the French goalkeeper is not having a negative impact at all.
Now, the same idea could be repeated with Franck Kessie as Milan made their to the midfield some time ago and they do not intend to raise it, despite the Ivorian’s entourage continuing to ask for figures that are widely out of reach and are not logical for what Kessie has shown on the pitch.
If an agreement is not reached in a short space of time, Milan already know that they can do without Kessie because they can always replace him properly, as the Donnarumma saga showed.
