CM: Milan not worried about Liverpool interest in Bennacer despite clause and renewal distance

AC Milan are not worried by the rumours of interest from Liverpool and are hoping to agree a renewal with Ismael Bennacer soon, a report claims.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, the €50m release clause that was inserted into Bennacer’s contract at the time of his arrival from Empoli back in 2019 has conditions that do not allow it to be exercised in the last days of the transfer market.

That allows Milan the ability to sit around a table to negotiate with the clubs interested in Bennacer without having to worry about one of them simply triggering the clause with a €50m over.

Liverpool have shown interest in the last few days but that ‘does not scare’ Milan because they consider the Algeria international to be not for sale and therefore he will remain at the centre of the project and the plans of Stefano Pioli.

For some time Maldini and Massara have been trying to secure a renewal but meetings with his agent Moussa Sissoko did not lead to an agreement. Milan want to extend the deadline well beyond the current June 2024 and have proposed a renewal with a €3m net per season salary.

That offer is considered too low with a request of €4m per year submitted as a counter. There is distance, but also room for negotiation and soon there will be new meetings, because Bennacer is fundamental and central to the plans.

  1. 3m for benaceer for 5 years, this management must be on drugs, they are high on hard drugs……keep losing players, very soon we will return to where we were before and everyone will start panicking again….let’s keep losing them to save pinches of money that we still do not spend. TRASHY PEOPLE.

  2. If he is the “center of the project” then offer him the 4M he wants (which is a reasonable salary for a starting mid) and get it done with. Don’t nickle and dime him. We do not have the luxury of losing him even if we get 50M. Just because he has a release clause of 50M and in the event it’s activated – doesn’t mean this ownership will re-invest and use the entire 50M in a replacement player. We won the title and qualified for CL. Despite that we have a small (by market standards) budget and can barely sign more than one quality player (CDK). So we shouldn’t assume that just because a club exercises a release clause (whether that be for Benny or Leao) that the club will use that money on new replacement players – most likely they will pocket the majority as they did with the CL and Serie A monies….

    1. They get 50m euro but they will use just 10m euro , thats the way elliot harvest capital gain as much as they can . I will prefer renew benna 4m euro nett rather than see this elliot get capital gain 50m euro
