AC Milan are hanging in the balance between a passable season and another year of underwhelming results. It is a dangerous line to be sitting on.
A few months ago, Milan were playing ok football. It was not attractive by any means, but results were there. So, you couldn’t really contest it too much. Now, though, there are significant worries about the immediate future.
Indeed, a Champions League battle looks likely to be restarted and the Rossoneri are sat fearing the worst as they again failed to get the job done…
Allegri’s fear displayed
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) recalls this morning, for the first time this season, Massimiliano Allegri has shown signs of worry about his team. Indeed, after the game, he was very quick to mention the Champions League and actually stated his fear.
“We’ve thrown away a wild card. Now we have a week to prepare for the match against Atalanta. We certainly can’t throw away ten months of work.”
For Allegri to add in that last comment suggests two things, a public message of distaste with his squad. Alternatively, and more worryingly, an actual sign that he is scared about the chances of a Champions League omission yet again.
The Rossoneri, the report continues, are afraid and all the good work of this season is being threatened. If Roma lose tonight, things change and maybe the Diavolo can breathe. Until then, though, the calculators will be out and the final fixtures do not show reasons to be confident.
Allegri has been let down by many players but he is the mostly responsible for the current state of the team.
A coach of his experience, who has been with the team from pre-season can’t send out a team that plays at this level.
Milan have been out-played all season and simply cannot construct one decent attacking play per game…not one. It’s awful football the team is playing and he has to take responsibility.
Players like Salaemakers, Leao, Pulisic, Bartesaghi, Fofana etc have actually regressed rather then progressed under his leadership.
You would expect a lot better from a coach of his calibre.
I think the National Team can save the club by taking Allegri in an arrangement that would benefit all parties so the club can simply start again before it gets worse.
Players are cracking and that started after Pioli win league.
Why Pioli win league and later they all cracked ?
In scudetto year – ne pressure….
After scudetto, Americans started players sales to capital gain.
So team that stayed, get huge pressure for performance.
If they had that pressure in scudetto year, Kessie, Tonali, Bennacer and Leao would crack back than also.
Problem with pressure in San Siro is that players who are on the team are not so quality.
Only Modric, Maignan and Rabiot is. After injuries Leao and Pulisic lost their performance.
+ now have big pressure…
Pavlovic and Fofana did very good year with effort and Bartesaghi with De Winter did ok.
Gabbia had decent three of 5 season, and all others failed.
If we can see Piolis bench back than, we can see dude didnt had players.
They bring so expensive bench to Allegri and unfortunately for club it was always better not to use them.
Nkunku, Gimenez Fullkrug… disastrous attacking bench.
Jashari, Ricci, flopped totally.
Ruben Loftus unfortunately with injury- but i would always rather pick him instead of previous 2.
And thats basically almost all. Estupinan only managed to score against Inter – and lost his ability to play. Odogu never played at all.
Cost side of bench is enormous. Nkunku 36, Ricci 23, Jashari 36, Gimenez 30+, Fullkrug…. plus previous cost of RLC….
