Di Marzio: Origi’s arrival, De Ketelaere competition and Newcastle’s huge Botman bid

By Oliver Fisher -

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio gave a round-up of the latest AC Milan news during his segment on Calciomercato L’originale last night.

He spoke on Sky (via MilanNews) and took stock of what is currently happening in Milan’s mercato, confirming that Divock Origi will arrive in Italy on Monday evening and on Tuesday he will undergo his medical examinations ahead of joining the Rossoneri on a free transfer.

Regarding Sven Botman, Lille are insisting that the player accept a move to Newcastle United, who have bid €40m plus €5m in bonuses, but the player is waiting for Milan as they are his preferred destination.

Milan remains in contact with Charles De Kateleare’s agents but there is also competition from Leeds United in the Premier League to contend with. In short, accelerations are needed on multiple fronts if the Rossoneri are to strengthen the squad by signings their main targets for each position, or they risk missing out.

  1. Milan will sign none of these players; they probably won’t even sign Origi. If they sign anyone, it’ll be a hodge-podge of cast-offs, injured players, youth team punts and maybe the odd old free agent that we might have heard of. An early CL exit and mid-table obscurity beckon….

  2. All I see is inter strengthening and Milan putting their pennies away for the new stadium. You saw what happened to arsenals spending power from 2003-2013

  3. Let’s see if Origi will even pass his medicals… Wouldn’t be surprised to see a heart condition or something ruining the move.

    1. Yes you are correct, but it seems that Milan are where they started last year enough though they have REDbug owners

Redbug seem just like the Chinese owners before the Elliot owners
Milan are losing players and not strengthening the squad at all
I think they will miss out on their targets again in this window
Another season in the wilderness and CL will be a disaster

  4. We have no $$$$. Redbird and Elliot screwed us. Apparently we have 50M transfer budget lol. That gets you nowhere. I guess they pocketed half of the CL and Serie A $$. Dreams of CDK, Botman, Bremer, etc…are just that – dreams. M&M not signed but not surprising given what they have to work with after performing a miracle last season. We will wait till end of the transfer window and pick up a few scraps and that is about it. Terrible

  5. It’s like the new milan owners are a bunch of jokers if not how can someone explain thier ambition and market strategies

  6. Hahaha… the ‘doom & gloom’ pack never ceases to cry, what a bumch of anxious freaks… yeah yeah yeah, mid-table wilderness, just like in the last season… oh, but we became champions, I almost forgotten that!
