Indeed, looking at Milan’s position so far, they are certainly in a strong place for the top four spots. With that said, there are several direct clashes yet to come, and the Rossoneri need to protect the eight-point safety buffer, if nothing else.
Importance of San Siro
It would be easy to say to that it is a fairly straightforward task now, but it could not be further from the truth, and Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write that they must turn around their home performances, given who is yet to come.
Inter, Juventus and Atalanta all will come to San Siro hoping to strengthen their own positions, and whilst the big teams have not really had any success against the home team, the Diavolo have certainly had their own problems.
Indeed, they have the lowest points tally at home of any of the Champions League chasers, which could be problematic given the run of games that awaits them.
Udinese, Torino and Cagliari all will also travel to Milano, and this brings up another issue, the one of facing teams lower in the division.
The ‘mini Champions League’ is about to begin, and the home results could be the most important thing for the future. If they can win these big clashes, their chances of Europe next season will increase substantially.
Allegri’s record speaks for itself, he has not failed to qualify in the top for inside his last eight seasons. He is not going to start changing that.
