CM.it: Ibra’s decision, Pellegri, Giroud and a known target – Milan’s plans for the striker department

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan plan to begin drawing up their strategy for the attack heading into next season during the month of March, according to a report.

Calciomercato.it reports how everything revolves around Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Even though the Swede turned 40 in October, he seems to have no intention of retiring just yet and in the 14 matches he has played in Serie A he has 8 goals, showing he can continue to play an important role.

In March there will be talks about his future and a potential extension for another season, and from there it will be understood how Milan’s centre-forward department should be constructed heading into the 2022-23 season, with one certainty being the presence of Olivier Giroud who is under contract until 2023.

Pietro Pellegri is unlikely to be at the club as he is set to be sent on loan for 18 months to Torino, so in the summer the hunt should begin for a young and reliable striker. Gianluca Scamacca is an idea but Inter and especially Juventus are ahead, so there should be an eye on potential surprises.

  1. Seriously, what do we intend to do with all these strikers? It’s crazy to think that our own Vlahovic may be in the Primavera waiting to be discovered and we’re going all out signing every thing that’s called a striker on the planet. Vlahovic wasn’t always a phenom. Someone put trust in him and he exploded but all we do is send them out on loan before finally selling them off to some third division team for peanuts. I know there’s pressure to win a trophy but I also know that a solution potentially lies within and it starts with trust. Won’t be surprised if we sold Pobega because Tonali too wasn’t a double pivot guy but he adopted… What I meant adapted. 😅

    1. Agree, to put a label on somebody as a back, winger or striker is foolish, yes their qualities may make them better at a certain positions on the pitch but they all have soccer instincts and can adapt during a a game, Florenzi is a good example I would have him playing in place of Baka, we have no recourse with Theo we need him at back ,but he plays mid for the French Nat’l team. Great players are/can be good players anywhere on the pitch.

  2. Ibrahimovic is superb but the ageing process effects everybody. Whenever he is injured, his body takes longer to heal. I believe that the midfield and the defence need to be stronger. Romagnoli doesn’t deserve to be a captain. Several goals were preventable & he didn’t intervene on time. AC Milan need a midfielder to aid Theo; the best of all in my opinion. Kessie needs to be replaced. Raiola has already taken Donnaruma 💵. Kessie will follow. At least sell him before AC Milan get nothing like what happened with Canahoglu and Donnaruma.

  3. I still think Olivier Giroud will prove to be a success ,and yes it depends upon his fitness ..Giroud will score goals ,and his strike rate on target is good .technically he is still one of the best .
I don’t think we ( Ac Milan have a problem) with the strike force ,and included in that zlatan ibramavic ,again he to will score goals …I can’t see a real problem at the moment ,as I believe not only will we score goals ,but the team we have is good ,and we can finnish in second spot in the league ,and we can win the coppa cup..so plenty to play for .
