Technical director Paolo Maldini has branded Stefano Pioli as the ‘ideal coach’ for AC Milan after he extended his contract earlier today.
Milan confirmed on their official website that Pioli has signed a new deal with the club lasting until 30 June 2023, with an option for a one-year extension. The former Lazio and Fiorentina boss helped the Rossoneri back into Champions League and has now been in charge for 106 matches.
His record during that stretch is good too as he has racked up 59 wins, 27 draws and 20 defeats, at a points-per-game average in Serie A of 2.05. He got his first win in the UCL against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, which is another sign of the growth process.
Maldini gave his thoughts to the club’s website after Pioli signed his new deal, which has been rumoured to be imminent for the past couple of weeks now, and he named three reasons that he is the perfect coach for Milan.
“Stefano is, for his professional skills, temperament and personality, our ideal coach. He fully embraced the values and strategy of our club, his leadership has created a cohesive environment with great ambitions. The goal is to continue the path undertaken and to obtain better and better results,” he said.

I admit i was very andra when Pioli was announced as a coach.
But i eat my words every game for almost 2 years. Now i love him, he and Ancelotti are the best Milan coaches ever.
Forza Pioli ❤🖤
