AC Milan are aware that they have a real diamond in Rafael Leao as his talent continues to shine, but the next step is to extend his contract to avoid assaults from Europe’s elite.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) focuses on the Portuguese winger, beginning with how Pioli described him: “You have no idea where Leao’s talent can go.” That was not said recently during his excellent run of performances but rather when he was alternating good games with bad, showing the head coach already knew what he had in his hands.
Today Leao beats his man so regularly that you would think he were playing against Primavera-level players, and it seems he is the man who knows how to drag the team through difficult moments. With his 7 goals and 4 assists to begin the season, he is an electric presence and currently the team’s main attacking threat despite starting from wide.
Leao is a decisive and indispensable player and Pioli deserves credit as he managed to bring out the magic, insisting and persevering with him, but the next step is a renewal, because a diamond like him must be held close.

Come on man, usually you’re on point but Pioli recognized his potential?? Pioli was the one misusing him for an entire season slowing his growth because he’s too afraid to run anything besides a 4231… Leao is a little older now, a little more mature, and playing in a position that he belongs in, that’s why he’s showing his talent.
Look I like Pioli on the whole but this is not where he should be getting credit. Honestly he almost blew Leao’s development last year.
It was Gazzetta dello Sport who wrote that! We are just relaying their piece.
@Zoro
Clearly Pioli knews more about his players growth than keyboards warriors like you. So please shut up 🤫
