Planning is underway to get AC Milan’s squad in the best shape for next season and the centre-back department will undergo some changes, a report claims.
Calciomercato.com reports that Milan are in the market for a new starter-quality centre-back and Sven Botman of Lille is the player chosen. Negotiations are well underway to sign the 22-year-old Dutchman from Lille and the offers from England do not scare the Rossoneri, with the operation not far from completion.
Botman will take the place of Alessio Romagnoli who will leave on a free and join Lazio on a five-year contract worth over €3m net per season. Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu are untouchable, while Simon Kjaer is continuing his recovery from ACL surgery and can be considered an option for next season.
If he needs more time and his recovery continues into the new season, it cannot be ruled out that Matteo Gabbia may remain, while another factor that could influence this is the fact that four players from the club’s academy are needed for the squad lists.
