AC Milan are planning to sit down and discuss a new deal with Davide Bartesaghi, amid interest from Premier League clubs.
It could hardly have been a better season for Bartesaghi, who has made the leap to being a starter for his boyhood team. The new signing Pervis Estupinan arrived in the summer and got the nod until he got injured, then the Italian stepped in and seized his chance.

A brace against Sassuolo at San Siro in December was a huge moment for him, and while there have also been some growing pains too, the feeling is that the Rossoneri have someone they can confidently build the defence of the future around.
Bartesaghi in demand
However, his performances have naturally ended up on the radars of other top clubs too. Matteo Moretto spoke in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel about Bartesaghi’s future and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.
“Let’s talk about the future of Davide Bartesaghi, 20 years old, 28 games this year in Serie A and two goals, a brace at San Siro. Bartesaghi’s performances have been inconsistent, with high points, important peaks, some situations that are part of a young player’s growth,” he said.
“As I was telling you, Milan is also planning a meeting with Bartesaghi’s entourage at the end of the year to understand, to evaluate together the type of contractual adjustment Bartesaghi may have. Let’s say that nothing is a given, we need to sit down, we need to talk about it, we need to discuss.
“Certainly the topic of a possible renewal, I repeat, with a possible adjustment [pay rise], is on the table, it’s a possibility, but I can also tell you that Davide Bartesaghi, in any case, has been viewed several times this year by scouts present.
“There is also concrete interest from several English Premier League clubs, including Newcastle. I’m telling you about scouts who have come to San Siro and not just to San Siro to follow Davide Bartesaghi, the evolution, in short, of Bartesaghi in the Milan shirt.
“In short, we’ll see how the discussions progress, and above all, we’ll update you when this face-to-face meeting between Bartesaghi’s entourage and AC Milan takes place at the end of the season—in short, in the coming weeks.”

I have felt that Bartesaghi has not been good enough…a wing back has to have much more goal involvements. The fact he has zero assists is telling. But….while I may not be impressed with a 20 year old Bart and think competition needs to be signed….i do not want to trade away the opportunity for the 23 year old Bart who should be much more refined.
Am I crazy to think this. Keep all the players who have consistently started. (Bart, Fofana, Leao, Pulisic, etc) Trade away the deadwood. Use their sales plus the added revenue from champions league to add talent. Let youngsters fill in the rest of the squad. Hopefully around £100mm in sales, plus at least £25mm for champions league, and most likely more. Basically 3 players valued at £25ish (midfielder, CB, fullback) plus a £50M striker.
For 1 player to have an assist a 2nd player will have to score with the pass or cross from the 1st player.
Put Bartesaghi on Inter instead of Di Marco and he will have a bunch of assists. Inter actually have forwards that can convert those passes/crosses into goals. If you put DiMarco on Milan he will have way less assists passing the ball to Leao, Pulisic, and the rest of the Milan forwards who couldn’t hit water if they were falling of a boat.
First of all don’t ever compare Bartesaghi to Di Marco. Di MArco is world class and Bartesaghi has had a couple good games in his career.
Also Pulisic and Leao have been among the top goal contributors in Serie A the last 3 seasons, I don’t think they all of a sudden forgot how to play.
It’s more likely a result of this dinosaur of a coach who doesn’t pay any attention to the attacking side of the game and just hopes to score a lucky goal and win every match 1-0.
First of all Bartesaghi is 20. How good was Di Marco at 20. At 23 he was playing for Verona on loan.
2nd of all i compared them because they play in the same position.
3rd I like how you worded that Leao and Pulisic have been among top goal contributors and not goal scorers when I was specifically talking about Scoring goals.
I am not an Allegri fan at all and he is a dinosaur coach, but being 1v1 with the keeper and constantly missing isn’t the coaches fault. Not being able to put the ball on target isn’t the coach fault. He can’t shoot and score for Leao and Pulisic who have never been good at scoring goals, under any coaches in their careers.
If we cannot get Tonali back, then don’t sell. Let’s try to be more patient with our youth players.
Bellanova still comes to mind.
Noah Okafor with another goal
8 goals 3 assists this season.
Luka Jovic 20 goals 2 assists
Tammy Abraham 16 g 4 assists this season. BTW Tammy had 10 g and 7 assists as a part time player last season at Milan in 1700 minutes.
Leao 10 g 3 assists this season (3 penalties)
Pulisic 10 g 3 assists
Milan kept the wrong forwards.
Yes, in Turkey. Since he is back in PL, almost nothing …Leao of Pulisic would score 30 goals there…
There is this guy in Puerto Rico that scored 30 goals in 28 games. Maybe Milan should get him instead of Pulisic? I mean he scored 30 goals… irrelevant that almost any player from Serie A would be Maradona there
Nobody is trying to get Bartesaghi. The kid had a couple good games at the beginning of the season and has been rather disappointing since. Had to be pulled at halftime vs Juventus he was getting beat so badly.
I would keep him, he still may develop into a good player but lets pump the brakes on the hype machine.
Fans are always wondering why our young players don’t get a chance and still 95 percent of the fans are like you unfortunately.
Bartesaghi is only 20 read again only 20 he hast lots of time to develop!! Fans base in Italian league are the worst they judge on every mistake. Give him time he will become better he is already really good at crossing if he manages to defend better and make better runs which I’m sure he will. He can become a good left back and again he is only 20.
Yes, same as how Thiaw was bad and made mistakes and nobody would buy him. Clubs buy players with potential. You seem to be from a different planet
