In the summer, AC Milan will not have another rebuild. Instead, the club aim to strengthen the foundations set over the past two mercatos.

It was certainly a bit of a rebuild, and the Rossoneri were perhaps a tad extreme with it, considering their squad now is a little short.
However, they have taken Inter to February in the title race and sit in a position of strength in the Champions League qualification spots. So, it clearly had an effect, now it is time for the second stage.
A summer to strengthen
When Adrien Rabiot arrived, he discussed a multi-year plan, and despite rumours about Allegri’s future, Carlo Pellegatti stated that the coach has already begun to plan what the summer will hold for his team.
It is clear that a top-level striker should arrive, alongside an experienced central defender. However, Corriere dello Sport adds to this, via MilanPress.
As they have written, the defence is the priority, given there are only four central options currently, whilst the futures of Luka Modric, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana also adds a bit of doubt in the midfield.
Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao will also be considered unsellable. Indeed, it will be a mercato to strengthen, not tear up the floorboards once again.
Is the word still “revolution” when it happens literally every summer? Seems like there should be a new word for how they’re handling the transfer business. You know, aside from ‘player trading’.

There are 6 cbs currently in the squad, not 4. Forgetting Bartesaghi & Odogu.

Stop making things up. Pulisic’s contract expires in 2027. In no way is he unsellable, this management don’t want players to leave on anything, they will almost certainly cash in if he doesn’t sign a new contract.
The club has an option to extend to 2028. Same principle ought to apply about selling this summer to maximize price, but you know how this club is.
The question for both of them is can they play and do they want to play in Allegri’s system? We’ll see. Regarding contracts, if a player requests a transfer they go. Best example is Reijndeers who had just signed a contract extension until 2030 (I believe) but was allowed to leave for City. The team just gets more money with a longer contract in place. People seem to ignore this history.

Unless Allegri switches to a 433 I don’t see Leao and Pulisic on the pitch at the same time and we switch to a back 4 then there is no need to renew Tomori.
