Milan president Paolo Scaroni has seemingly ruled out any chance of Saturday’s derby against Inter being postponed.
The attention leading up to such a big game should be about possible line-ups and other quirks, but the media attention has been dominated by COVID-19.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Leo Duarte tested positive for Coronavirus two weeks ago and the former has just recovered, while for Inter defensive duo Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar are now positive, as are midfield pair Roberto Gagliardini and Radja Nainggolan.
Milan were dealt yet another blow as Gabbia tested positive for Coronavirus while away with on international duty with Italy’s U21 side, while Inter’s back-up goalkeeper Andrei Radu has also tested positive as has full-back Ashley Young.
Scaroni attended a Lega Serie A meeting on Tuesday afternoon and was asked by MilanNews whether the derby is at risk because of all the positive tests.
His response was clear and simple: “Absolutely not.”
