Milan president Scaroni hits out at ‘questionable’ decision regarding Coppa Italia restart

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has voiced his displeasure at the plans to complete the Coppa Italia so quickly.

After a meeting with Prime Minister Conte, Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora announced on Thursday that the Serie A season will start again on Saturday 20 June, while the Coppa Italia will begin on June 13.

Spadafora also revealed his hope to have the Coppa Italia completed in the week from June 13 to 20 and therefore the final is provisionally set for June 17.

Paolo Scaroni – the president of Milan – was interviewed by ANSA about the new regarding the restart and in particular expressed his thoughts on the dates of the Italian Cup.

“We understand the value of being able to offer all fans quality games after months of lockdown, but, from a sporting point of view, we find it questionable to assign an important trophy like the Italian Cup with two games in three days and with teams on the field after more than three months of detention,” he said (via MilanLive).
