Milan Primavera 2-0 Lecce: Sia and Scotti hand birthday win to Abate

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan’s Primavera side bounced back from their defeat in the league last weekend with a strong performance against Lecce today. For the head coach Ignazio Abate, it was just the birthday present he wanted.

The Rossoneri suffered their first league defeat last weekend (2-1 against Empoli) and were thus keen on bouncing back today. Of course, their confidence was boosted by the mid-week win against PSG, scoring a last-minute winner.

The hero in that game, Diego Sia, opened the scoring against Lecce this morning in the 30th minute with a nice finish. He was assisted by Francesco Camarda, who is in very good form right now. Milan continued to do well after the goal, but Lecce also had their fair share of chances.

Fortunately, Abate’s boys found the back of the net once again and this time it was Filippo Scotti. The winger took matters into his own hands, firing a lovely effort into the bottom corner. It’s a goal that allowed the Rossoneri to slow down slightly, even if that upset the head coach who wanted them to continue.

Milan had a couple of half chances to make it three but it was actually Lecce that came closest to a goal towards the end. With five minutes left on the clock, Noah Raveyre made an excellent save to deny the Lecce attacker from close range. The goalkeeper celebrated his action like a goal.

The game finished 2-0 and as already mentioned, it was the perfect birthday present for Abate who turns 37 years old today. Milan are now first in the standings along with Inter, who will play later today.
