AC Milan’s Primavera side have been pitted against FC Rukh Lviv of Ukraine in the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League after today’s draw.
The Youth League has provided some respite in what has been yet another dreadful season in the league so far for Ignazio Abate’s side as they topped a group including last season’s finalists Red Bull Salzburg, the talent factory Chelsea and a promising Dinamo Zagreb side.
However, the Primavera have now not won a game since November 6 when they thrashed Atalanta 4-0 not long after securing top spot in the UEFA Youth League group stages, with the latest damaging defeat coming against Frosinone over the weekend (3-0) which leaves the team in the relegation play-off places.
FC Rukh Lviv on the other hand are top of the U19 league in Ukraine above the usual powerhouses Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk, having beaten Zaglebie Lubin and Galatasaray en route to knocking Inter out on penalties in the last round.
