Milan Primavera 2-1 Sampdoria: Simmelhack scores last-gasp winner

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan Primavera have closed the gap to Inter at the top of the table thanks to a dramatic late winner from Alexander Simmelhack in a 2-1 win against Sampdoria on Sunday afternoon.

Ignazio Abate’s side knew that it could be a potentially tricky game against the Blucherchiati and that is how it panned out, despite taking a fairly early lead.

In the 12th minute, Clinton Nsiala put the Rossoneri 1-0 after bundling in a scrappy goal from a corner. It was certainly not a goal that will live long in the memory but it gave Milan control over the match.

That control was then lost just 13 minutes from time when Simone Leonardi equalised for Sampdoria, meaning Milan had to go again.

Owing to their clear improvements this season, that is what Milan did and they got their reward in the 93rd minute when Alexander Simmelhack pounced on a loose ball in the box following a free kick and his shot squirmed over the line, making it 2-1.

Milan are now in second, level on points with Inter after eight games.
