A few days before the trip to face Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, there are still question marks about Rafael Leao.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Milan are back in training today ahead of their Easter Monday clash against Napoli, following a three-day break granted by Massimiliano Allegri. The coach is awaiting the return of the various internationals, who will all be back by Friday at the latest.
Back to base
In the meantime, the training centre hasn’t been empty. Matteo Gabbia, Santiago Gimenez and Niclas Füllkrug were in training yesterday to continue working on their respective conditions.
The defender did individual work prior to yesterday to try to speed up his recovery from his inguinal hernia surgery. The recovery plan is progressing well, but it’s currently difficult to envision a call-up for Monday night’s clash at the Maradona.
As for the two forwards, both are clearly eager to be ready when the season really matters. Gimenez returned to the pitch against Torino after four and a half months of absence, while the German is working hard to regain his full fitness after a toe injury that prevented him from training fully.
Today, the spotlight is on Leao, who returns to base after treatment and the work he completed in Portugal in recent days. The Portuguese will be evaluated and monitored by the medical staff, and the key is strict caution.
In other words, he will only be called up for the Napoli match if his adductor pain has truly resolved. The schedule includes afternoon sessions, except Saturday, when the team will train in the morning.
