MN: Milan looking to boost revenues – discussions underway with PUMA and Emirates

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan leadership are not just working on strengthening the team through renewals but they are also looking at improving the accounts, a report claims.

MilanNews reports how there is often a close correlation between economic performance and results on the field, especially when considering that the latter often feeds into the former because a winning team is more attractive to sponsors.

During the week of the derby, an AC Milan delegation led by CEO Ivan Gazidis went to Dubai to attend Expo 2020 and they spoke with the management of Emirates, the main sponsor of the club since 2007. The current partnership guarantees Milan about €14.2m per annum based on bonuses and there were positive discussions held in Dubai given Milan are viewed as a top partner on a par with Real Madrid.

There will be a time to go into the details of the negotiation over the next few months, one that could see Milan earn more given they have been performing well on the field and are back showcasing Emirates in the Champions League.

PUMA meanwhile guarantee Milan €13m a year in sponsorship and in recent months there have already been signs of a possible extension of the agreement with a raise in the guaranteed figures.

Meanwhile, Milan’s marketing and commercial area is working to conclude new sponsorships and review some partnership agreements – such as the one with BMW – to try to make them become sponsors and raise the income.
