GdS: Milan pushing ahead with cut-price €8m deal for French midfielder – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not waiting around in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and want to try and sign him in January, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that Aouar’s contract with Lyon is set to expire at the end of the season and Milan have been observing the midfielder for a long time. Now, the possibility of moving early to beat the competition and sign him in January is gaining momentum.

Aouar will certainly not renew with Lyon and therefore his future lay elsewhere, with clubs like Juventus and Roma keen, but in recent days Milan’s chances of landing the 24-year-old have risen significantly.

Given his deal expires in June, Aouar’s price in January will be quite affordable (around €8m) which seems very much like a cut-price deal when considering Lyon rejected an offer from Arsenal worth €50m a few years ago.

The Rossoneri are therefore evaluating the possibility of making this investment as early as January and thus giving Stefano Pioli a new quality midfielder. Yacine Adli could leave on loan to make room for him, and the sale of Fodé Ballo-Touré could also help finance the move.

    1. Yep agreed, seems bizarre that we would have an open path to getting him so easily and cheaply.

Must be something we’re missing here….
