Tuttosport: Milan pushing hard for stadium plan – €150m-a-year revenues possible

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want to build their own new stadium and the potential revenues that it could generate has only added to the sense of urgency, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that the ownership have major priority for Milan’s future, which is to build a new stadium owned by the Rossoneri that is modern and capable of bringing significant revenues into the accounts.

For this reason, the Diavolo want to speed things up and get a concrete plan in place soon. They have identified the right site for building the new stadium as the La Maura racecourse area, but residents and above all the council are opposing this idea even though they have not yet seen the project.

In recent days, the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, did an inspection of La Maura with a senior Snai executive to understand the operating margins that there would be for Milan, who in turn are working to give an important acceleration to this whole affair.

The estimates that Gerry Cardinale and his staff have in hand say that for every season that Milan play without their own stadium means they are missing out on €100m in revenues, potentially €150m.

It is a huge amount that would also boost the funds available to the management to strengthen the squad and try return to the elite, which is why Milan and RedBird want to find a solution soon.

This says it all. Milan needs to forget the Milan city area and go elsewhere. The council won’t allow the new stadium anywhere where they have jurisdiction.

    1. Yea, too bad.the council just want them to keep using San Siro so we (and Inter) keep paid rent to them.

      Just go to Sesto.
