GdS: ‘A Milan of quality’ – the plan to overhaul the midfield department

With the departure of Tijjani Reijnders, there was going to be a need for AC Milan to rework the middle of the team. However, the club are going to the extreme.

With Massimiliano Allegri’s arrival, there was a need for Milan to build a team in his vision. A doable task, of course, but one that still requires a lot of work and configuring. Now, as Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the idea is in motion.

Allegri’s midfield needs to be skilled with the ball at their feet, capable of dominating possesion, and in turn, the game. If anything, it is a return to the roots of the club, and Igli Tare’s words only furthered this idea.

Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be pivotal, but others will arrive. Whilst there will be some still to leave, notably Yunus Musah, who has Premier League interest.

German track

There are several ideas, but the primary one now leads to Germany and Granit Xhaka, who has already agreed to move to Italy. The Diavolo seek a comfortable base to their midfield, and the Swiss is the idea most liked.

A regular for Bayer Leverkusen and before that Arsenal, and he can be the same for Milan. In fact, there is no real interest in letting the midfielder leave, but, despite the lack of the Champions League, the Bundesliga winner wants San Siro.

The first offer – which could be the last – has already been tabled, a figure around the €10 million mark. There is not too much more that can be given to the German outfit for a nearly 33-year-old.

To Belgium, then Spain

From there, there are also routes to Belgium and Spain. Starting in Brugges, Ardon Jashari’s situation is evolving constantly, with the Rossoneri persisting with offers for the Swiss midfielder, who won the Belgian Pro League Player of the Season.

At 22-years-old he has significant growth left in him, though he is already someone who can improve the face of the team. €45m is being requested for his arrival, and the Diavolo are getting closer, but there is a doubt whether the full fee will be paid.

Additionally, there is Javi Guerra, the Spanish midfielder who has been on the rise in the past week. However, it seems that Xhaka and Jashari rank higher in the wishlist for Tare and Allegri. Milan are present, and an offer has been tabled. But, it seems other routes are preferred.
