Estadio Deportivo: LaLiga side register interest in signing young Milan centre-back

AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia is being chased by a club in LaLiga as Real Betis have declared their interest in signing him, a report claims.

Estadio Deportivo are reporting that the Betis director Antonio Cordón has already closed the signings of Lazio centre-back Luiz Felipe and the Cádiz attacking midfielder Álex Fernández on free transfers, while he has an agreement with Fluminense over winger Luiz Henrique, but he seems to want another defender.

Depending on what happens with the other players currently in the centre-back department for the Andalusian club, Betis could launch a move for the 22-year-old Gabbia as they are after a player who is good in the air and has an imposing physique.

He is under contract with Milan until 2026 having renewed a few months ago, but given that Tomori, Kalulu and Kjaer are already in the ranks plus the possible signing of Botman, there will be little space for him to get the playing time needed to develop.

The current idea for Milan is to send him on a dry loan in Serie A, but Betis – among other LaLiga teams – are following Gabbia’s situation to propose other alternatives if necessary.
