AC Milan could sell Rafael Leao this summer in order to finance the attacking overhaul that they see as a necessity, a report claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning that Leao’s departure ‘will allow Milan to build a super attack’, a unit ready to face a return to the Champions League, assuming Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t face any unpleasant surprises in this final part of the season.

Manchester United are keen on Leao and a FIFA agent has got involved to test the waters. The scenario is clear: the Rossoneri no longer consider Leao unsellable and are ready to listen to offers. United are looking for a player who can alternate with Cunha on the left and beat a man.
Their first choice is Morgan Rogers, the Aston Villa winger valued at an extremely high price, double the €50m Milan are reportedly asking for in negotiations for Leao. The English club could also try include a counterpart in the deal, even if Milan only want money.
An attack to rebuild
Discussions will be further explored once Milan and United’s seasons conclude, or after mathematically securing qualification to next season’s Champions League. The Manchester side need to cut some players to sign more, one of whom is Joshua Zirkzee.
He has flopped in the Premier League after scoring 11 goals in Serie A for Bologna in 2023-24. The Dutchman has his bags packed, because while last year he played over 2,200 minutes and nearly 50 appearances, in 2025-26 he has played 551 minutes across 21 appearances.
Milan considered him in the summer of 2024 but then backtracked, not because of the €40m release clause Bologna was demanding, but because of the fees demanded by his agent Kia Joorabchian. The situation is different now.
The former Rossoblu star would be the third man in an attacking lineup alongside Christian Pulisic and Alexander Sorloth, currently the primary options for the centre-forward role. Zirzkee isn’t a striker, but he has different characteristics than Pulisic and Sorloth, and he would fit in well with them.
The list of United players Milan could (if they choose) also includes midfielder Manuel Ugarte and winger Marcus Rashford, both of whom have less of a chance than the Dutchman. Ugarte is on the sidelines and Jorge Mendes has offered him to Juventus, while Barcelona can buy Rashford for €30m.
If Barça don’t keep him, Laporta could opt for Leao, but there are currently no strong signs of Rafa’s arrival in Spain, while a move to Manchester is a possibility. Rashford had been in Milan’s sights in January 2025 but was cast aside due to his €13m net salary.
With Rafael Leao’s departure, the Diavolo would have the money to launch an attack on the Norwegian Sorloth, who wants to leave Atletico and is is open to joining the Rossoneri. Or, they could try for another name, like Nicolas Jackson, Goncalo Ramos or Dusan Vlahovic.

I won’t judge too fast. Rashford did decent this season. His numbers are two times better than Leao. But his wage is just too much. So it’s not the right solution for Milan.
Sorloth has scored more than 20 goals each season for the last 3 now. When was the last time we have a striker with that record? He scored many important goals this season. And if Allegri really wants a classic striker he’s a decent choice.
Zirkzee has been a great talent and wonderkid since his Bayern Munchen’s era. Then again if we look to MU’s transfer, how many talents are wasted? Him, Hojlund, Sancho, Antony, Onana just to name a few. All considered great players on their previous club. So I won’t say Zirkzee has nothing left to offer. Considering his age as well.
i think Bacca was one of the last ones. Sorloth is the type of player who like Bacca, arent flashy, dont get into trouble, rarely in the news. They just quietly do their job and that’s it.
Going in for a probably CL season next season and they are considering Ugarte. We are doomed
